Times are tough and cash is scarce. Yet you can not only survive, but actually increase your business by using these effective, inexpensive marketing tactics. They’re especially useful in case your company is just starting out. Implement a couple of per week and inside a month you will notice results.
1. Leverage sites. LinkedIn and Facebook are free to join, costing you just the time to setup your profile. Are you thinking Facebook is just for socializing? No way–some of the most successful consultants and salespeople use Facebook to maintain their professional networks. You may also setup a “fan” page for the company and enable people to “like” it.
2. Leverage real-world networks. Find relevant meetings through MeetUp. Visit Chamber of Commerce meetings, along with other events which will attract your target customer, client, or competitor. Gather business card printing and then phone or email to follow up. Offer them something first (for example an hour or so of your time or perhaps a free product sample) before you keep these things help you.
3. Produce a handout. Allow it to be helpful to the recipient, including tips, insider expertise, or handy reference info. Make sure that you include your name, telephone number, current email address, website information and a brief ad tells the recipient how your business may benefit them. The benefit part is important: it’s not what you do (that is a feature of the business); it is the things they get free from what you do, for example save your time or money.
4. Establish alliances. Identify complimentary businesses and engage them in cooperating to supply clients or customers with a “bundle of value” or a comprehensive solution that’s a lot more than you can provide on your own.
5. Write Article dashboard. They’ll increase understanding of the company while building your credibility through their content. They can be targeted to specific geographic locations or audience niches through keywords, if needed. Less is more: short articles of 250-500 words are ideal for online consumption. Results could be quick: within a month, the articles may be featured prominently in search results and be picked up by newsletter publishers, increasing distribution without any extra effort on your part.
